Andrew wins Peter Jowett Scholarship

Andrew Olsen is famously known at Frucor Suntory as someone who is not afraid to pick up the gauntlet when presented with a challenge.

So…it did not come as a surprise when he was named one of the four 2021 Peter Jowett finalists at the New Zealand Association of Convenience Stores (NZACS) Awards.

Andrew, who is the Key Account Manager for Frucor Suntory Petrol & Convenience (P&C) channel, describes the opportunity to present and be named the recipient of this year’s Peter Jowett scholarship as a real honour.

“For me, it was an incredible opportunity to upskill and promote my personal brand to industry leaders.”

He says his presentation tackled this year’s topic (below) head on:

Considering COVID-19 and the changes in shopper behavior and dynamics, what opportunities has this pandemic presented for convenience retailers to change the way they retail, and look for areas to deliver sales growth and foot traffic for their businesses?

“The scope of my presentation focused on the current challenges our retail partners’ face in a COVID-19 environment.

My presentation also focused on the future success of the industry, and how the industry needs to take advantage of readily available technology to keep up and adapt to changing consumer habits and support sales growth.

Andrew believes the skills and experiences he has gained during his five years at Frucor Suntory has enabled him to become a well-grounded professional in his sector.

“I believe the best thing about working here are the people – everyone from senior leadership to our field teams are extremely approachable.”
